Sept. 22nd

Dear friends

It's the first day of fall.  The leaves are changing colour, the air is crisp, pumpkins abound, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

It's good to have that delight for the senses, for like me, you may find the daily news to be troubling.  As predicted, the numbers of COVID-19 cases are rising again.  I am mindful of this recent update on the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit website:

We all have a role to play in reducing the spread of COVID-19

As local cases of COVID-19 sharply rise to numbers not seen since the spring, in addition to the provincial        restrictions above, we are asking everyone in Simcoe Muskoka to shrink your social circles to those          within your own household and to be cautious by reducing your exposure within the community.

Yes, we are still working toward coming back to worship in the sanctuary, in small numbers, with all the safety protocols in place.  Zoom worship continues, with the sanctuary being one of the portals.  Our COVID safety team, worship team and tech team have been working hard toward that goal.  Sunday Sept 20th was the first live test from the sanctuary.  We're also mindful that we may need to hit the "pause" button on this project at any time depending on COVID cases in our area and advice from the Health Unit.

Thank you to everyone who completed our "Return to Worship Survey".  The results will be shared in our October newsletter and here in the website.

I hope you will take the time to read the attached documents from the Eastern Synod taskforce on re-opening.

May God continue to bless us and keep us safe
