Growing food is a lot of work.  It begins with going to the dump for a load of compost - working that into the soil - then planting.

This year our Scout troop, Barrie 14th, helped plant and harvest.  Children from our Montessori school planted beet seeds - and many members, young and old, helped plant, weed, water and harvest.

July's drought affected some of our yields (especially the carrots).  Here's what we grew:

Potatoes  167 pounds; Beets 168 pounds; Cabbage 24 pounds; Swiss Chard 18 pounds; Carrots 4 pounds.

Total of 381 pounds were distributed to Women’s & Children’s centre, Salvation Army & Food Bank
